IRCE Profile
In October 2004 the US Department of Labor presented the first construction
industry award under the
President’s High Growth Job Training Initiative to Home
Builders Institute (HBI), The Workforce Development Arm of the National
Association of Home Builders. The $4.2 million grant, administered by the
Education and Training Administration, is designed to develop a career ladder
that trains workers and students to prepare for careers in the residential
construction industry.
South Central Idaho was one of the first five sites chosen by HBI to fulfill the grant
requirements. Idaho grant recipients form the Idaho Residential Construction
Education (IRCE) consortium to serve as a model for rural communities in Idaho
and beyond.
